The Bangor Community is an amazing place where the pride in our small towns, townships, and schools is evident to all who come to visit. As the community continues to develop and grow, our schools hope to continue to serve as a source of pride for our community, a center for community activities, and an attractive destination for families. We are hoping that our families, local business owners, and community service organizations will partner with us as we plan for the future of our schools and community. Since January, the District has worked on a comprehensive assessment of our facilities and site, focusing on current and future needs for both maintenance and spaces that support the delivery of quality education for the students of Bangor. Key aspects of the assessment include safety and security, infrastructure, accommodating enrollment growth, usage of the Old School Gym, and identifying potential utility and operational efficiencies. All staff were surveyed as part of the process, and our Board has reviewed the initial outcomes from the assessment. We would now like to review those outcomes with our community and gather feedback. Families and community members are invited to attend a meeting on Monday, June 6 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the MS/HS cafetorium. During the evening, we will review key findings from the facility assessment, including identified needs, potential solutions, budgets, and funding tools. This will be an important opportunity for you to ask questions and provide input, which our Board will use to determine next steps. If you are able to attend, please RSVP directly to Superintendent David Brokopp at dbrokopp@bangorsd.net or by phone at 608-486-5202 by Friday, May 27. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you in advance for your continued support of our “Small School Building Big Futures!”

On May 6th, English 11 students took a class trip to UW-Stevens Point to celebrate the conclusion of the Connections Project. This is a project in which pre-service teachers (mentored by their professor and partnering HS teachers) prepare lessons and readings around an essential question. High School students choose a question they’d like to explore and engage in asynchronous discussion with students from another school studying the same question for four weeks. The project concludes with the HS students creating a project that synthesizes evidence from multiple texts that they studied. On this trip, Bangor students got to meet with their question group and get to know them, share their projects, and experience some of the UW- Stevens Point campus. It was a great day!

To the Bangor Community, The Bangor School District is exploring options to provide or support family childcare, wrap around care, and summer programming needs. To make sure that we are focusing our efforts in the right places, we will be hosting a childcare community engagement session on Thursday, May 12 at 6:00 pm. The session will take place in the MS/HS Cafetorium. Any family or community members interested in joining this conversation are welcome to attend. We understand fully that needs exist and want to make sure that we hear directly from families about their needs and challenges, as well as from community that may have ideas for potential solutions. We are incredibly fortunate to be a part of a small but growing rural community where people come together for the good of our children. We look forward to this conversation and thank you in advance for your participation. If you have any questions or are not able to attend but would like to contribute to the conversation, please reach out to Mr. Johnson at Bangor Elementary, or to Dr. Brokopp in the District office. Thank you for helping to make each day be A Great Day to be a Bangor Cardinal! David Brokopp Ph.D. Superintendent, Bangor School District
